Before you read the blurb about this compilation (which is a great read by the way!) here's an update on our charity drive.
In December 2022 we committed to giving 50% of the profits from sales of this album that month to the Guide Dogs UK charity. In the end we extended this to February 2023 and gave £50 to this fantastic charity.Earlier that year our good friend Syd, bass player in Torrid (A Love Affair), sadly had to say goodbye to her guide dog and long term friend Mac.
Everyone who met Mac absolutely adored him, he truly was a superstar, and the unofficial 5th member of the band - even making an appearance on the album!Guide Dogs UK is striving towards a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full.

To celebrate our 1st year anniversary in 2022 we released a single every week in the summer by one of our amazing artists. Most of these had never been heard before, some had videos to accompany them, others had B Sides and remixes too.
All in all this was a great project, and lots of fun to run. We introduced some of our newest artists for the very first time, and brought new music by some of our existing roster to you too.
This label sampler CD includes all 9 of the singles, plus a selection of B Sides. The album features:
Gozer Goodspeed's Full Tilt Revival. A sneak peak of an upcoming Gozer Goodspeed album which included a full lyric video and the B-Side Things That You Know You Can't Say Aloud which was previously only available on the Letters To Sonny Vol. 1 charity compilation we released in 2021.
I Can't Be Beautiful by Torrid (A Love Affair), the 3rd single from the popular Poems From Mars album. Recorded live in the studio garden the video captures the exact take the band used for the final release. This also included the bands live cover of Glory Box by Portishead as a Bandcamp exclusive.
GRIM17's Bitter Shine. For this one we asked independent musicians everywhere to have a go at remixing the song! We got 11 remixes back and included them all as B-Sides to the single. GRIM17 picked 2 favourites by Andrew Hartshorn and A Sea Warren, both appear on this compilation too!
Pimps Run Free by Crushed By Pimps was a re-release featuring a brand new video set in a supermarket. 'The Big Shop' follows one man's quest to buy the 'essentials' at the height of the pandemic as he goes backwards and forwards through the store in these strange times... Will the Toilet Paper make it into the trolley? Also includes the alternative Ivory Mix for the track as a B side, both appear on CD for the first time here.
Shaun Panda Nicolson's debut on Lights And Lines came next in the form of Everything Ends. A beautiful and haunting alt-folk song brought to you directly from the mountains and isolation of the Isle of Skye. Kris Boyle did an amazing job on the video for this one and GRIM17 presented an alternative version of the track with his remix for the B Side.
Extraordinary by Emilie Lierre was another debut, the first single from Emilie's soulful upcoming album, The Wanderer. This one came about through a chance meeting between Label Manager, Mike Five, and Emilie Lierre at a music networking event in Brighton. And wow what a happy accident that was! Also features a live radio performance of Out Here Tonight.
We Walk The Earth's I Am Hollow is the first of our #AlbumWritingClub winners to appear on the collection. Over 50 independent musicians signed up to write and record an album in a month in May 2022 and 28 completed the project. The Ice Storm by We Walk The Earth scooped the top prize of Best Album and secured a record deal with Lights And Lines, this is the first single from that amazing album.
Speaking of #AlbumWritingClub,we upgraded the prize for Mikey J's winning entry for 'Best Single - Public Vote', with his track My Little Dragon Girl. Nearly a quarter of people who voted for their favourite chose this cool ska tune, so we decided to go all in with releasing the single on the label, and we'll be working with Mikey J to put his album out too!
The third and final winner from #AlbumWritingClub rounds of the A Sides of this compilation, Rebel Tramp won the top prize of 'Best EP' with the bluesy experimental Intra Dimensional Fantasy. Wavetashia is the first single from the EP which will be released on Lights And Lines in early 2023. NB Best Album and EP were separated to give 2 top winners as the competition was so tight!
